OGREAN CALLS RESIGNATION FROM USOC A LIFESTYLE DECISION

In resigning as the USOC's Deputy Exec Dir of Marketing
yesterday, DAVE OGREAN cited a desire to spend more time
with his family, according to Mike Gorrell of the SALT LAKE
TRIBUNE. Ogrean is leaving the USOC on April 30 to become
President of CO Springs Sports Corp., which seeks to attract
sporting events to the community. Ogrean: "It was very much
a lifestyle decision." Gorrell notes that Ogrean's departure
follows the resignation of OPUS President DICK SCHULTZ, and
"more organizational changes are expected as the USOC's new
CEO, NORM BLAKE, settles into office" (SALT LAKE TRIBUNE,
3/23). Ogrean: "I thought to myself ... 'I'd sure love not
to be getting on an airplane so much'" (USA TODAY, 3/23).
NEW ROLE: In CO Springs, Paula Parrish writes that
Ogrean will now aim to make CO Springs "a major player in
the world of sports." With the Sports Corp., he is leading
"an organization that has struggled with its direction in
recent years." Though his salary was not released, Ogrean
will "receive a three-year contract with compensation
comparable to that of presidents and CEOs of similar
organizations -- though it will be significantly less than
what he makes at the USOC" (CO Springs GAZETTE, 3/23). Also
in CO Springs, Lynn Zinser calls Ogrean "one of the sports
world's heavy hitters ... [with] friends in high places and
a personality that keeps winning more" (GAZETTE, 3/23).
