BIG WANG THEORY: NY BUSINESS EXEC INTERESTED IN ISLANDERS

          NY-based Computer Associates Int'l CEO Charles Wang
     "has emerged as a potential buyer of the" Islanders,
     according to sources of Young & Hahn of NEWSDAY.  Wang, who
     earned $650M in '99 and placed at the top of Forbes' annual
     salary survey, "has expressed an interest in buying the
     team" from current co-Owners Howard and Edward Milstein and
     Steven Gluckstern.  Although Wang has yet to present the NHL
     with a letter of intent to buy the team, he "has talked with
     Nassau County officials about building a new arena and
     developing" the 40-acre site around Nassau Coliseum.  Wang
     is reportedly "trying to see what kind of a deal he could
     work out with the Islanders' owners and SMG," which has a
     lease to manage the the coliseum until 2015 (NEWSDAY, 3/23).
