NASCAR'S UP IN ARMS: MILITARY BRANCHES ON WITH FIVE TEAMS

All five branches of the U.S. Armed Forces, in
conjunction with Action Performance, Jay Howard Events and
five Winston Cup teams and their respective sponsors, have
developed a special program, themed "Tribute to Freedom in
the Millennium," to support their recruiting efforts. Five
cars with special paint jobs will debut in the Coca-Cola 600
at Lowe's Motor Speedway (LMS) near Charlotte on May 28.
The drivers and cars are as follows: Mike Skinner will drive
in the No. 31 Army Chevrolet; Bobby Hamilton in the No. 4
Navy Chevy; Ricky Rudd in the No. 28 Marines Ford; Dale
Jarrett in the No. 88 Air Force Ford; and Jerry Nadeau in
the No. 25 Coast Guard Chevy. Action will develop a full
line of collectible die-cast replicas, as well as apparel
and other merchandise around the cars (THE DAILY).
NASCAR LEGENDS: Wheaties unveiled a series of four
limited-edition boxes around retired NASCAR drivers Richard
Petty, Ned Jarrett, Benny Parsons and Cale Yarborough. The
new packages will be available for a limited time primarily
in the southeastern U.S., and a different box in the series
will be issued about every three or four months over the
next year. Additionally, the Petty-owned No. 43 Pontiac
driven by John Andretti will feature a special Wheaties
paint job in the Winston Select May 20 at LMS (Wheaties).
