OLD WOUNDS TAKE TIME TO HEAL: ZEKE'S COMMENTS IRK RAPTORS

Raptors coach Butch Carter "took a shot at NBC because"
of comments made by Isiah Thomas on Sunday in which the
former Raptors Minority Owner/GM "suggested to viewers that
the Raptors' success is at least partially related to his
own long-term planning," according to Bill Harris of the
TORONTO SUN. Carter: "I hate that NBC lets (Thomas) have
the platform to put out inaccurate information. ... For some
reason he needs to take credit for what has gone on here and
I think that's broad for him." Carter "also claimed NBC
didn't get a story right" on Sunday when it reported that
Raptors F Charles Oakley and F Antonio Davis told Carter not
to wear a microphone during NBC's broadcast of their game
against the Sonics. Carter: "(NBC implied) that I had to
have [the players'] approval. It was my decision all the
way" (TORONTO SUN, 3/14). Also in Toronto, Craig Daniels
notes Thomas' comments on Sunday and writes that he made a
"ridiculous spectacle" of himself (TORONTO SUN, 3/14).
CREDIT FOR COVERAGE: In Boston, Howard Manly notes the
amount of coverage that NBC's Hannah Storm devoted to the
mic controversy on Sunday: "To its credit, NBC aired a
discussion about the idea" (BOSTON GLOBE, 3/14). See (#11).
