YANKEENETS TO GAIN FINANCING HELP FROM OUTSIDE INVESTORS

If YankeeNets' $175M acquisition of the Devils "comes
to fruition," YankeeNets will use twelve "outside investors
to help finance" the "majority of the purchase price,"
according to a "person involved with the sale" cited by
Richard Sandomir of the N.Y. TIMES. The source added that
YankeeNets will not pay a $15M bonus to Devils Owner John
McMullen if the Devils win the Stanley Cup, but McMullen
"intends to use" $15M from the team's sale to pay for
bonuses to his employees (N.Y. TIMES, 3/13).
LEARNING FROM THE BOSS: Nets co-Owner Lewis Katz said
that he has "latched" on to Yankees Owner George
Steinbrenner, calling Steinbrenner his "mentor" in the
sports business. Katz: "I feel like I'm serving an
internship, learning all about the sports business. And who
better to learn from?" (Newark STAR-LEDGER, 3/12).
