MAGIC PUT SALE OF MINORITY SHARE IN TEAM ON HOLD FOR NOW

The Magic "have slowed down the process of trying to
sell a minority share of the team to someone who will help
them build a new arena" due to the "uncertainty over the
value of the franchise," according to Tim Povtak of the
ORLANDO SENTINEL. One reason for the delay is that the NBA
"is studying potential new revenue sources from the Internet
and E-commerce." Magic execs also believe that the team
"will be in a new building within five years" and that the
"franchise will take a sudden jump in popularity if they are
successful in signing some high-profile free agents." RDV
Sports CEO Bob Vander Weide: "It's not an advantageous time
to sell a piece [of the franchise]. That's why we're in a
stall right now" (ORLANDO SENTINEL, 3/12).
