TURNER SOUTH LANDS BRAVES PACKAGE: WILL IT HELP GROWTH?

Turner South has landed a 35-game Braves package that
includes games against the Mets, Yankees, Red Sox and
Cardinals, according to Prentis Rogers of the ATLANTA
CONSTITUTION. Turner South GM David Rudolph believes that
the addition of the games means that Turner South "is about
to take a giant step forward in visibility and surely will
expand a subscriber base that has doubled to 1.5 million
homes." Rudolph: "When you look at the Atlanta area, the
Braves on TBS average a 13 rating, and there are few
programs in all of television with that kind of number.
There's no question the Braves will raise the awareness of
Turner South" (ATLANTA CONSTITUTION, 2/26). DAILY VARIETY's
Paula Bernstein reports that EchoStar will add Turner South,
CNN/SI, Speedvision and Outdoor Life to two of its digital-
tier packages on April 1 (DAILY VARIETY, 2/28).
