IS A BACARDI PARTY ABOUT TO BREAK OUT IN KANSAS CITY?

          Facundo Bacardi, a member of the board of Bacardi Ltd.,
     the world's fourth-largest wine and spirits producer,
     "intends to submit a bid Thursday to purchase" the Royals,
     according to Bacardi's legal advisor, Andy Friedman, who is
     cited by Steve Rock of the K.C. STAR.  Friedman said that
     Bacardi's bid "will exceed" the $75M minimum.  Royals
     President Mike Herman, on the potential sale of the team:
     "At one time, there was very little interest.  Now, there is
     a lot of interest."  While Bacardi lives in Atlanta, he
     "will establish part-time residence in Kansas City if he
     becomes the owner" and "intends to solicit" local investors
     and "strengthen ties" between the Royals and the business
     community.  Bacardi has no other sports ownership interests,
     nor has he ever bid on a pro team (K.C. STAR, 2/22).
