MIND-IN' OTHER PEOPLE'S BUSINESS: SENATORS' FULL BLITZ

Senators coach Jacques Martin has been asked to
"personally sell some season tickets" because the team's
"increasingly desperate campaign for survival has hit a wall
of apathy" among small- and mid-sized businesses, according
to Ken Warren of the OTTAWA CITIZEN. After "a mere" 34 new
season-ticket equivalents were sold yesterday, the "third
consecutive slow day," Senators President Roy Mlakar was
left "scratching his head" (OTTAWA CITIZEN, 2/15). In
Ottawa, Caroline Murray writes that the "aggressive drive"
to convince more businesses and fans to buy or renew season
tickets saw "little fluctuation" yesterday, as the number of
renewals "inched up only" 1.4%, bringing the drive to 77.6%
of its 90% goal for renewals. The team now stands at 1,236
full season-ticket equivalents, short of Senators Chair Rod
     Bryden's goal of 1,500 (OTTAWA SUN, 2/15).
