THE WILD SCOOP: DETAILS OF THE TEAM'S OVER-THE-AIR TV DEAL

          The NHL expansion Wild's five-year over-the-air
broadcast deal with KMSP-UPN calls for 22-25 Wild games to
air per season starting with the 2000-2001 season, according
to Judd Zulgad of the Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE. KMSP will
"also have the right to broadcast selected games in the
first and second rounds of the playoffs, and will carry pre-
and postseason-specials and programming surrounding the NHL
expansion and entry drafts." The Wild will "produce the
telecasts" and also will "employ the announcers." Wild
officials "are pleased with the deal because of the number
of viewers who receive KMSP," which is 1.7 million HHs.
Wild CEO Jac Sperling: "KMSP is probably the most widely
distributed TV station in Minnesota" (STAR TRIBUNE, 2/11).
SEAHAWKS LAND DEAL: The Seahawks and KIRO-AM have
reached a five-year agreement which includes broadcasts of
all Seahawks games, pre-game and post-game shows, and a
weekly two-hour show. The deal includes in-house production
by the Seahawks broadcast department of all team-related
broadcasts on KIRO. All advertising for the game broadcast,
and select pre and post-game shows, will be sold by the
Seahawks broadcast department. KIRO will sell additional
Seahawks advertising on other programming (Seahawks).
