NAMES IN THE NEWS

          NFL HOFer and Ultimatebid.com spokesman JOE MONTANA
     appeared on "The Late Late Show" Wednesday night with CRAIG
     KILBORN.  Kilborn attempted to grasp the concept of
     Ultimatebid.com, which allows fans to bid for a chance to
     live out a fantasy with a celebrity or sports personality
     like Montana.  Kilborn: "For people who are boring and
     haven't had the great life you've had?"  Montana explained
     that prices for the bid packages are not all expensive. 
     Montana: "It goes all the way down to $40, $50."  Kilborn:
     "Fifty bucks will probably get you, what?  Fishing with John
     Rocker or something like that?" ("The Late Late Show," CBS,
     2/10)....SYLVESTER STALLONE, on his new movie on the CART
     FedEx Series: "My character is a guy who at one time had it
     all, wasted it, and is being brought back almost as a bad
     example to the young driver how not to be.  I am there to
     tell him how not to be, how to blow your life, because I
     have" ("RPM 2Night," ESPN2, 2/10)....The THOROUGHBRED OWNERS
     AND BREEDERS ASSOCIATION, a 3,000-member group that
     represents horsemen in 48 states, is "working" with the NTRA
     to encourage horse ownership.  The group has been running
     "brief spots on race telecasts."  Group President DAN
     METZGER: "Once we identify interested persons we want to
     educate them as much as possible about the possible benefits
     of being in the sport" (ST. PETE TIMES, 2/10)....Jazz Owner
     LARRY MILLER and wife GAIL made a "significant financial
     contribution" toward building a baseball/softball facility
     on BYU's campus.  BYU will name the complex Miller Park,
     with the baseball diamond called Larry Miller Field, and the
     softball field the Gail Miller Field (DESERET NEWS, 2/9).
