BULLS READY TO DIP INTO ITS WAITING LIST FOR SEASON TICKETS

The Bulls and ad agency DiMeo & Co., Chicago, sent
"miniature cardboard" replicas of the United Center via two-
day mail to 25,000 people "who had asked to be put on a
waiting list for the tickets" since '87, according to Sandra
Guy of the CHICAGO SUN-TIMES, who writes that the mailing
helped the Bulls "sell out the first season tickets offered
in 12 years." The mailings were sent in chronological
order, so that those who had waited the longest for tickets
were "the first to be surprised by the unusual"
solicitation. Bulls VP/Marketing & Broadcasting Steve
Schanwald, on the locations of the available seats: "They're
not the best seats." The Bulls "would not disclose" the
costs for making and mailing the replica, but DiMeo
President & CEO Bernie DiMeo said there "was a substantial
return on investment, about 8 or 9 to 1" to garner new
     season-ticket holders (CHICAGO SUN-TIMES, 1/28).
