          N.Y. State Senator Nicholas Spano and Jets President
     Steve Gutman "have discussed the prospect" for a Jets
     stadium next to Yonkers Raceway.  Spano: "They were pretty
     good conversations."  Gutman said that he'd "get back" to
     Spano after March 2, the date Robert Wood Johnson IV "closes
     purchase of the team" (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 1/28)....In Detroit,
     Daniel Fricker writes that the Wayne County Commission voted
     10-2 yesterday to hire Palace Sports & Entertainment to
     "manage advertising" at Detroit Metro Airport for the next
     two years (FREE PRESS, 1/28)....In Newark, Matthew Futterman
     reports that Bergen County (NJ) business exec William
     Schuber is appointing a 15-member committee to "study the
     economic feasibility and environmental impact" of a 6,000-
     seat minor league ballpark in the county.  The team "would
     join" the independent Atlantic League (STAR-LEDGER, 1/28).
