          National Media Group Co-CEO PETER KAPLAN passed away
     January 17 after a battle with liver cancer.  He was 57 (THE
     DAILY)....Raptors F VINCE CARTER, on allegations his agent,
     WILLIAM "TANK" BLACK, was involved in an "alleged fraud
     scheme that bilked more than a dozen NFL players of million
     of dollars": "Regardless, it has nothing to do with me.  I'm
     very happy with him and plan to stick with him to the end"
     (TORONTO SUN, 1/26)....RENA MERO, formerly known as WWF
     wrestler SABLE, is set to star in "The Consultants," a
     syndicated TV show that features DENNIS RODMAN as a villain
     (See THE DAILY, 1/24) (Mult., 1/26)....PGA golfer NOTAH
     BEGAY was sentenced yesterday to a week in jail following
     his second "drunken driving offense."  Begay must also pay a
     $1,000 fine and "not drink alcohol for one year" (ST. PETE
     TIMES, 1/26)....During last night's Celtics-Heat game,
     Miami-area resident DAN BLONSKY, who last week became the
     second contestant to win $1M on ABC's "Who Wants To Be A
     Millionaire?," was "brought out from the stands to answer
     six questions about the Heat."  Blonsky "needed two
     lifelines," but answered all questions correctly and won
     $1,000 for charity (BOSTON GLOBE, 1/26)....STAN KROENKE, who
     owns a 40% stake in the Rams, is "close to breaking ground"
     in a St. Louis suburb on a $140M building and condominium
     development through his company THF Realty (WSJ, 1/26).
