NBA NEWS & NOTES: LAKERS' NEW FACILITY; CAVS FANS ABSENT

The Lakers are "targeting" mid-February "for a long-
anticipated move" to their new practice facility in El
Segundo, according to Howard Beck of the L.A. PRESS-
TELEGRAM. The Lakers "hope to move" around NBA All-Star
     Weekend next month (L.B. PRESS-TELEGRAM, 1/26).
CAVS: In Cleveland, Mary Schmitt Boyer reports that
last night's Pistons-Cavs game drew a crowd of 10,930, "the
lowest ever" at Gund Arena (PLAIN DEALER, 1/26).
HEAT: In Ft. Lauderdale, Ira Winderman writes that "in
response to complaints" about parking prices at
AmericanAirlines Arena, the Heat "released a document"
showing that more than 2,000 spaces priced at $10 or less
are "within a five-block walk" of the arena. Details are
     available by accessing www.aaarena.com (SUN-SENTINEL, 1/26).
BUCKS: In Milwaukee, Michael Hunt reports that Michael
Jordan "contacted" the Bucks "at some point" about a front
office position before being named Wizards President of
Basketball Operations. Sources say Jordan's "initial
interest" in the Bucks "had to do with proximity [to
Chicago] as much as anything else" (JOURNAL SENTINEL, 1/26).
BLAZERS: Monday's announced sellout at the Rose Garden
was the Trail Blazers' 28th straight, including last year's
     playoffs (Portland OREGONIAN, 1/25).
