AMG SPORTS ACQUIRES HOCKEY COMPANY, INKS JASON KIDD

AMG SPORTS has "purchased" the Beverly Hills- and Montreal-based hockey management group CAN-AM and has signed Suns G JASON KIDD to a representation deal, according to Jonathan Bing of DAILY VARIETY. Can-Am will "merge its business into AMG Sports, folding its client list into AMG's growing roster of high-profile athletes," which includes PETE SAMPRAS and Clippers F LAMAR ODOM. AMG Sports President JEFF SCHWARTZ said his group is "going to concentrate on the sports we're presently in, and in the future we're going to look at getting into other sports like baseball and golf." But Schwartz added, "One sport we're not going to enter into is football," which Bing wrote is "hardly surprising considering" AMG Founder MICHAEL OVITZ and his investors have been "unsuccessful in landing" an NFL franchise in L.A. (DAILY VARIETY, 1/24).
