TEAM HOPING TO PACK FANS' MAILBOXES FULL WITH SUPPORT

The Packers will send brochures with information on the
Lambeau Field redevelopment project to about 180,000 season-
ticket holders, shareholders and "other Packers supporters,"
according to Scott Hildebrand of the GREEN BAY PRESS-
GAZETTE. The brochures will contain prepaid postcards that
recipients can sign and send in to state senators and
representatives "urging support for legislation to create" a
0.5% Brown County (WI) sales tax to help fund the project.
The names and addresses of the lawmakers are provided for
the fans. Packers Senior VP/Administration John Jones:
"We're reaching out to our fans, many of whom are
stockholders of the franchise. Hopefully, this will just
build momentum" (GREEN BAY PRESS-GAZETTE, 1/25).
BACKIN' THE PACK: In Green Bay, Content & Hildebrand
write that Brown County Supervisor Patrick Collins says that
WI "should ante up more of the cost of rebuilding" Lambeau
Field if it wants a "big role" in the project. Collins: "We
can build the arena, we can build the jail, we sure as heck
can build what the Packers want, too" (PRESS-GAZETTE, 1/25).
In Milwaukee, Walker & Jones write that State Rep. John Gard
     (R) said that legislation being drafted to help the
renovation project "should be ready" in seven to ten days.
WI Gov. Tommy Thompson is "expected to endorse passage" of
the bill in his "state of the state" address tomorrow
(MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 1/25). In Green Bay, Chris
Havel: "The Packers' presence here is doing exactly what it
has for 80 years. It is sparking debate. It is stirring
     passion" (G.B. GAZETTE, 1/25).
