A'S OFFICIAL CONFIRMS TEAM IS "NO LONGER FOR SALE"

          A "high-placed" A's official "confirmed" Saturday that
     the team is "no longer for sale," as A's co-Owners Ken
     Hoffmann and Steve Schott negotiate a deal to remain at
     Network Associates Coliseum through the 2004 season,
     according to Gary Washburn of the CONTRA COSTA TIMES. 
     Hoffman and Schott have taken the team off the market "for
     the time being" after trying to sell the team for the past
     two years.  The team official: "We are no longer actively
     pursuing a sale" (CONTRA COSTA TIMES, 1/23).
