NIGHTCLUB MAKES FALSE CLAIM OF CARTER'S PARTY APPEARANCE

The Raptors and PMI ProSports Marketing, Vince Carter's
marketing agency, yesterday "denounced circulated flyers
that claimed" Carter would appear at Hooterville Station, a
Toronto nightclub, for an event organized by GS
Entertainment, according to Bill Harris of the TORONTO SUN.
The flyers made reference to a "Special Appearance by Vince
Carter," but PMI's Misti Heacox said, "In no way, shape or
form is Vince involved." Heacox, when asked if "any type of
legal action is in the offing," added, "For now we just want
to make sure people don't think Vince will be there."
Hooterville Station GM Paul Earle said the venue has
"nothing to do with the promotion or the event itself."
Earle: "One of the promoters approached me and said that
somebody he works with, either as a prank or a joke or
something, had issued these flyers saying Vince Carter was
     appearing" (TORONTO SUN, 1/20).
