SPORTS ON THE WEB: SPORTSLINE FEELS THAT AOL DEAL IS SAFE

SportsLine.com is "near the end of the first year of a
three-year deal that pays AOL nearly $24 million in cash and
stock for space as an 'anchor tenant'" on AOL's service,
according to Noah Liberman of the SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL,
who questions the impact that AOL Time Warner will have on
SportsLine's deal. SportsLine Exec VP/Sales Mark Mariani:
"There is a substantial penalty for AOL breaking their
exclusivity agreement with us, and I don't think AOL is
interested in that." An AOL spokesperson "would not
comment" on the deal (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 1/17 issue).
AOL spokesperson Wendy Goldberg told MULTICHANNEL NEWS'
Steve Donohue that AOL "won't discuss whether it will renew
specific content deals." Goldberg: "We are committed to
providing the best Internet online experience, and that
means a number of content partners" (MULT. NEWS, 1/17).
NOTES: Heisman Trophy winner/Univ. of WI's Ron Dayne
will contribute content to fitness Web site gymamerica.com
and will offer details of his personal training regimen
     (gymamerica.com)....Nielsen/Net Ratings research shows that
Rivals.com is the sixth "stickiest" Web domain on the
Internet in average total "Time Per Person" spent during the
month of December. The "Time Per Person" spent on select
     sports sites in December: Rivals.com (1:05:58); ESPN.go.com
