AS ESPNZONE GOES TO WASHINGTON, IT BRINGS ON NEW LEADER

          The new ESPNZONE in Washington, DC, will be holding
     "invitation-only" tours this week of its new 41,000-square-
     foot complex near MCI CENTER, according to Dana Hedgpeth of
     the WASHINGTON POST.  ESPNZone publicist ADAM SCHOLDER said
     the store will open in mid-March and have "more of a higher-
     end, classier feel than the other sites" (WASHINGTON POST,
     1/17).  BRANDWEEK's Terry Lefton reports that ESPN will base
     80% of its Super Bowl broadcasts from its third ESPNZone
     restaurant opening in Atlanta on January 28.  The restaurant
     will be managed by Disney Regional Entertainment Dir of
     Marketing JAMIE SYKES.  The fourth and fifth ESPNZone sites
     will be in DC and "possibly" Denver (BRANDWEEK, 1/17).
