LEAGUE NOTES

In Miami, Rana Cash wrote that with its success, the
LPGA Tour has "set the standard in some ways for other
women's sports organizations. But unlike the WNBA, the LPGA
has excelled on its own, separate from the PGA Tour." LPGA
Tour Commissioner Ty Votaw: "If the PGA Tour is Coca-Cola,
and the Senior PGA Tour is Diet Coke, and the Buy.com Tour
is caffeine free Coke, then the LPGA is Dr Pepper" (MIAMI
HERALD, 1/13)....Beach Volleyball America Founder Charlie
Jackson said the women's tour will stage seven events in its
initial 2000 season. The tour will have sponsors, but not
one title sponsor, and all seven events will be on either
ESPN2 or Fox Sports (SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE, 1/13).
