RACING DEALS & DOLLARS: KMART READY FOR BIG WALTRIP PUSH

          Kmart will be a "big backer" of Darrell Waltrip's
     Victory Tour 2000, marking Waltrip's final NASCAR season
     (see THE DAILY, 12/8).  CBS SportsLine's Mark Zeske wrote
     that Waltrip is actually sponsored by Route 66, an exclusive
     line of clothing apparel made by Kmart, and special events
     are "planned" for numerous Kmart stores during Winston Cup
     stops in Daytona Beach, Las Vegas, MI, Charlotte,
     Indianapolis and Atlanta.  Zeske added that more details on
     the promo will follow this week (CBS SportsLine, 1/11).
          SIGNED, SEALED, DELIVERED? Action Performance
     Companies, The Motorsports Decisions Group and the Crew
     Chief Club have developed an industry recognition awards
     program for achievements of NASCAR Winston Cup Series pit
     crew members (Action Performance)....Nationwide Insurance
     will sponsor a four-part safety program at six SMI-owned
     racetracks (Nationwide Insurance)....Nestle signed a two-
     year deal with ppc Racing's BGN team, whose cars are driven
     by Jeff Green (RICHMOND TIMES-DISPATCH, 1/13)....In Dallas,
     Tony Fabrizio reports that female driver Shawna Robinson has
     landed Kmart Kids Race Against Drugs to sponsor her Ford on
     the ARCA circuit (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 1/13).
