REPORT QUESTIONS APPROACH BY FLEETCENTER CONCESSIONAIRE

In a front page report in today's BOSTON HERALD, Robin
Washington writes that several FleetCenter concession
vendors "consistently rang up amounts" on cash registers
"lower than the actual prices" at Celtics games on Friday
and Monday. In addition, "another pair worked much" of
Monday's game "without ringing in any amounts at all." The
MA Department of Revenue is "taking a closer look" at
vending company Sportservice to "see if it is running afoul
of tax laws." FleetCenter and Sportservice parent company
Delaware North spokesperson Karen Liberatore said, "There
are very, very strict inventory controls in place and
(Sportservice) knows exactly how many of each item they've
sold." Liberatore, on the register "discrepancies": "You
witnessed some of our veteran workers who are not as
computer savvy [with the register]" (BOSTON HERALD, 1/12).
