MEDIA NOTES

          TV MONITOR: Last night's 11:00pm ET edition of CNN/SI's
     "Sports Tonight" led with Jazz-Spurs, followed by Nuggets-
     Lakers.  The first non-NBA story, at 2:47 into the
     broadcast, was FSU QB Chris Weinke announcing he will return
     to school for his senior season.  FSN's "Primetime" led with
     Jazz-Spurs, followed by Hornets-Bucks.  The first non-NBA
     story, at 5:55, was Cowboys coach Chan Gailey meeting with
     team Owner Jerry Jones.  ESPN's "SportsCenter" (at 11:15pm
     ET due to college basketball) led with Nuggets-Lakers,
     followed by Jazz-Spurs.  The first non-NBA story, at 4:37,
     was the Univ. of TX-Univ. of CT men's basketball game.
          NOTES: ESPN and ESPN2 reported a '99 combined primetime
     audience average of 1,574,000 HHs, up 5% over '98's
     1,497,000.  The audience is the largest combined primetime
     audience in the networks' history.  ESPN averaged 1,263,000
     primetime HHs in '99, up 2% from '98's 1,239,000
     (ESPN)....Turner NBA analyst Kenny Smith has become
     HoopsTV.com's NBA reporter (HoopsTV.com)....Athlete Direct
     launched the Web site of Raptors G Tracy McGrady (AD).

On this week’s pod, SBJ’s Austin Karp has two Big Get interviews. The first is with TNT’s Stan Van Gundy as he breaks down the NBA Playoffs from the booth. Later in the show, we hear from ESPN’s VP of Programming and Acquisitions Tim Reed as the NFL Draft gets set to kick off on Thursday night in Motown.
