ROOM WITH A VIEW: RENOVATION TO TAKE SEATS FROM CINERGY

Cinergy Field will have "nearly" 14,000 outfield seats
removed "to accommodate construction of" the Reds' new
ballpark, according to Dan Klepal of the CINCINNATI
ENQUIRER. Reds Managing Exec John Allen confirmed that the
seats are to be removed after the 2000 season and will
affect "only a handful of games during the 2001 and 2002
seasons." The Reds will continue to play in the "partially
demolished" stadium, with 39,000 seats, until the "new home
is ready" in 2003. Allen, on the loss of seating: "We won't
lose any advertising signage, and there are only a few games
when we draw more than 38,000. ... So the impact will be
minimal." Tickets "sell for about $7" for the seats that
will be removed (CINCINNATI ENQUIRER, 1/11).
