GOING GLOBAL: COMCAST-SPECTACOR VENTURES HAS BIG PLANS

Comcast-Spectacor Chair Ed Snider announced yesterday
that his group had acquired Tampa-based Globe Facilities
Services, marking Comcast's return to facility management
(see THE DAILY, 1/10). In Philadelphia, Edward Moran
reports that Globe manages seven facilities, including
Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton, NJ; Harborview Center in
     Clearwater, FL; Whittemore Center Arena in Durham, NH;
Pueblo Convention Center in Pueblo, CO; Colorado Springs
World Arena in Colorado Springs, CO and James L. Knight
International Center in Miami, FL. Comcast-Spectacor
Ventures President Peter Luukko said the company will seek
other arenas: "It is our intention to be aggressive and
attract facilities to Global Spectrum" (PHILADELPHIA DAILY
NEWS, 1/11). Also in Philadelphia, Christopher Hepp reports
that Global Spectrum will "seek new clients worldwide."
Luukko: "Less than 10 percent of [sports and entertainment]
facilities are privately managed. The market is tremendous.
We think there are more than enough for us and our
competitors." Globe Facilities President Michel Sauers, who
worked with Snider for 17 years, will be Luukko's "second-
     in-command" (PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER, 1/11).
