DECK THE HALLS WITH NFL LICENSED JERSEYS: TOP TEN SELLERS

          The following lists the top ten NFL teams in terms of
     '99 merchandise sales through November.  The teams' '98
     rankings as of last October are in parentheses (THE DAILY).

          WHO'S WATCHING: In N.Y., Courtney Kane reports that NFL
     research "suggests there are approximately" 45 million
     female NFL fans, or 40% of the "total 113 million viewers
     who constitute" the league's weekly TV audience, and that 20
     million of the women "consider themselves to be avid."  NFLP
     Senior VP/Marketing & Fan Development Howard Handler said
     that the league has "started sharing more of its fan-base
     research and brand expertise" with its advertisers. 
     Handler, on the number of female fans: "Our partners were
     really astonished by this in some ways."  Southwest Airlines
     and Visa are among the NFL sponsors that have "aimed more
     pitches at women during games" (N.Y. TIMES, 12/22).
