ISIAH BRINGS EARLY GIFT TO SIOUX FALLS: 2000 ALL-STAR GAME

          The 2000 CBA All-Star Classic will be held Tuesday,
     January 18, in Sioux Falls, SD, and the game will conclude
     two days of CBA All-Star festivities.  Sioux Falls also
     hosted the event in '96 (CBA).  In Sioux Falls, Stu Whitney
     wrote that the announcement is a "sign" that CBA Owner Isiah
     Thomas "wants to restore the All-Star concept as a fan-
     oriented occasion played at actual league sites."  The All-
     Star Game was canceled in '98 and was "essentially replaced"
     the last two seasons by a "scouting showcase" in Irvine, CA,
     and Phoenix (SIOUX FALLS ARGUS LEADER, 12/21).  Whitney
     writes today that the Sioux Falls franchise is "accepting
     the challenge of restoring life to the league's sagging all-
     star legacy" (SIOUX FALLS ARGUS LEADER, 12/22).
