PACKERS CALL ON FANS TO GET BETTER FEEL FOR STADIUM OPTIONS

The Packers are surveying residents throughout WI "in
an effort to get a better sense of the public mood on how to
pay" for renovating or replacing Lambeau Field, according to
Don Walker of the MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, who notes that
the name of the firm conducting the telephone poll and how
many residents participated "could not be determined." A
Packers spokesperson declined comment. The survey -- which
one respondent said "lasts nearly a half-hour" -- asks
numerous questions, including whether one favors some form
of tax support "based on the issues of public safety, player
salaries, or the club's financial situation"; whether one
would favor or oppose some form of tax support if the team
raises ticket prices, "imposes a one-time user fee" or
raises luxury suite rentals; whether one would support a
referendum; and the possibility of a Brown County sales tax
or statewide tax. Walker writes that the poll also
"attempts to measure the popularity or likability" of
Packers President Bob Harlan, GM Ron Wolf, coach Ray Rhodes
and WI Gov. Tommy Thompson (JOURNAL SENTINEL, 12/22).
