EUROSPORT DEAL ESTIMATED TO BE $50M BOOST TO SANEX WTA TOUR

In a deal "estimated by insiders to be worth at least"
$50M, the Sanex WTA Tour and its TV partner, Regency
Enterprises, have signed a TV deal for Eurosport to provide
European coverage of women's tennis for the next five years,
according to Christian Moerk of DAILY VARIETY. As part of
the deal, Eurosport will increase its women's tennis
coverage from 200 hours in '99 to more than 300 hours in
2000, "with future increases anticipated." The deal marks
"the first time" that Eurosport will cover more women's than
men's tennis, and Moerk writes it "reflects the growing Euro
viewer interest" in the women's game (DAILY VARIETY, 12/21).
