12/14)....The UCLA men's basketball team will wear its
alternative black uniforms a "handful of times," but not
during home games at Pauley Pavilion. UCLA coach Steve
Lavin, on criticism of the alternative unis that were
introduced last year: "I appreciate the traditionalist's
point of view as much as anybody. ... But if we did not have
an alternative third uniform, that puts us at a distinct
disadvantage with the other elite programs." The AP's Jim
O'Connell noted that uniform "colors and designs play a role
in recruiting since dark colors have become popular with

happy I can do my part to maybe bring some more fans to
