TIME WARNER CALLS A TIMEOUT ON ITS PLANNED SPORTS "HUB"

Time Warner has been "working for months to set up
profit-driven business models for five so-called Internet
hubs," and today launches its Entertaindom hub, according to
Lisa Brownlee of the N.Y. POST. But the company "has
quietly scrapped plans for two other hubs -- one devoted to
lifestyle and another devoted to sports." Brownlee: "While
sports and lifestyle will have a presence on the web, there
are no longer any plans to put them at the center of
businesses, suggesting the economics simply weren't there."
CNN/SI President Jim Walton was responsible for development
of the sports hub. Company officials would not discuss why
plans had changed for a sports hub (N.Y. POST, 11/29).
