ON THE ROAD AT HOME: In Philadelphia, Phil Jasner
reports that the 76ers, "who had planned to unveil" their
new "blue silhouette-cut jerseys" for tonight's home game
against the Blazers, "will instead wear them for the first
time" November 30 at home against the Knicks. 76ers Senior
VP Dave Coskey said that while "wearing a road uniform at
home is unusual, ... the idea was to create 'the greatest
opportunity for retail sales and exposure. Obviously, New
York is the No. 1 market, not a bad place [for] which to
roll out something new" (PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS, 11/19).
OTHER NOTES: The NHL is introducing kanji and hanzi
logos, which refer to the characters of Japan's and China's
written languages, respectively. NHL licensees Zephyr Graf-
X and New Era will begin retailing logoed hats nationwide
November 26. Majestic T-shirts will hit on December 1. All
30 NHL teams will be represented in the kanji and hanzi
styles (NHL)....A ST. PETERSBURG TIMES editorial states that
instead of sending "about a dozen college students" to tour
its overseas plants, Nike "should spend the money on its
500,000 foreign workers, many of whom still do not earn a
living wage." It calls Nike's most recent offer to students

on as an associate sponsor of the U.S. women's soccer team's
Toys 'R' Us Victory Tour (lucy.com)....Ford has teamed with
WA-based Kona Mountain Bike to "create a car with the style
and panache of a mountain bike," called the "Kona Edition
Focus," which "comes with an Out-of-Bounds model mountain
bike and rack." Kona Founder Jacob Heilbron: "This is a
genuine cross-marketing campaign" (USA TODAY, 11/19)....The
Triple-A Int'l League and PCL signed a three-year deal to
bring TX-based AIM Technologies' FanCard to consumers.
Twenty-three Triple-A clubs have committed to having the
FanCard kiosks for the 2000 season (AIM).
