INDIANS REVENUES ON THE RISE AS DOLAN STEPS TO THE PLATE

Cleveland Indians Baseball Co. "reported increased
revenues" of 6%, to $65.3M, for the third quarter ended
September 30, despite a "drop in operating income" of 47% to
$6.2M, according to Bill Lubinger of the Cleveland PLAIN
DEALER. The company "credited the gains to higher ticket
prices" and increased revenue from radio and advertising at
Jacobs Field. For the quarter, revenues increased 9% to
$136.1M, while operating income "declined" 43% to $4.3M.
Lubinger noted that ticket prices "rose" an average of 10%
for the '99 season, and the team "increased prices again" by
10% for 2000. The Indians "blamed the squeeze" in operating
income on "higher player salaries" (PLAIN DEALER, 11/13).
