          NFL: CBS' NFL coverage is averaging a 9.9/22, up 9%
     from last season's 9.1/22.  "The NFL Today" is averaging a
     2.7/8, up 13% from last season's 2.4/7....Fox's NFL coverage
     is averaging a 10.8/24, up 7% from last season's 10.1/24. 
     "Fox NFL Sunday" is averaging a 3.8/11, up 12% from last
     season's 3.4/10....ABC's "MNF" is averaging a 13.9/23, up 2%
     from last year's 13.6/22 (THE DAILY)....ESPN's "Sunday Night
     Football" is averaging an 8.32 rating (6,401,066 homes), up
     11% over the same point last year (ESPN).  
          RATING NEWS & NOTES: NBC's five broadcasts of the
     Gravity Games averaged a 1.7/5 final rating (NBC)....TSN's
     CFL ratings are up 20% this season.  TSN is averaging
     236,000 viewers for 37 games in '99, compared to last
     season's average of 196,000.  Combined with a 26% growth
     from '98's ratings, TSN's CFL audience has grown 46% since
     the '97 season (CFL). ...CART reported that the number of
     U.S. HHs that tuned into CART's FedEx Championship Series
     increased 5.8% in '99 to 22,605,000 HHs.  CART's cumulative
     HH audience was 21,369,000 for the '98 season (CART).
          For broadcast numbers, one ratings point = 1,008,000
     homes.  For cable, "Cov. Area" = % of homes tuned in to that
     program in that network's universe of subscribers.

TNT’s Stan Van Gundy, ESPN’s Tim Reed, NBA Playoffs and NFL Draft

On this week’s pod, SBJ’s Austin Karp has two Big Get interviews. The first is with TNT’s Stan Van Gundy as he breaks down the NBA Playoffs from the booth. Later in the show, we hear from ESPN’s VP of Programming and Acquisitions Tim Reed as the NFL Draft gets set to kick off on Thursday night in Motown. SBJ’s Tom Friend also joins the show to share his insights into NBA viewership trends.
