OH BANK SECURES NAMING RIGHTS FROM MANDALAY FOR BALLPARK

Cincinnati-based Fifth Third Bank has secured a 20-year
naming rights deal at the new $23M stadium for the Midwest
League's Class A Dayton Dragons, according to Jeff McKinney
of the CINCINNATI ENQUIRER, who reports that while
"financial details" weren't disclosed, the 7,250-seat
stadium "will be known" as Fifth Third Field when the team
debuts in April. McKinney notes that the deal "marks the
first time" Fifth Third Bank "has ventured into the naming
rights game" for a sports complex and it "raises the
question of whether" the $41B bank "could become a bidder"
for naming rights for a Reds stadium in 2003 (CINCINNATI
ENQUIRER, 11/12). In Dayton, Tim Tresslar reports that
Fifth Third Bank will receive signage on the ballpark
exterior and scoreboard and ATM's in the facility. Also,
700 seats in the ballpark will feature Fifth Third's logo.
The bank purchased naming rights from Mandalay Sports &
     Entertainment (DAYTON DAILY NEWS, 11/12).
