Atlanta-based Work has broken two new TV spots for the
Wizards, according to T.W. Siebert of ADWEEK, who writes
that a 30-second spot, called "Fight," claims that "rooting
for" the Wizards "promotes harmony." The ad features "two
men -- one black, one white" -- who "begin arguing" in a bar
until "one suggests they take it outside." Ready to fight,
the men take off their jackets to reveal that "each is
wearing a Wizards jersey. They point in recognition, then
laugh and embrace," and the crowd "applauds." The spot ends
with a "camera pan" to Wizards G Mitch Richmond, who holds a
sign that reads, "Thanks for your support." The other spot,
called "First Date," shows a man picking up his date, only
to have the door slammed in his face because he is wearing a
Knicks jersey (ADWEEK, 11/8 issue).
FIT FOR THE KINGS: The SACRAMENTO BUSINESS JOURNAL's
Mark Larson reports that the NBA Kings have hired S.F.-based
Hal Riney "to boost the team's brand-name recognition across
the country and beyond." Riney, whose national clients
include Sprint, Saturn and Hewlett-Packard, "has made an
opening round" of TV ads for the Kings, which "will be ready
to air" next week (SACRAMENTO BUSINESS JOURNAL, 11/8 issue).
