NHL AND NHLPA HOLDEN ON, NAME THEIR PERMANENT ARBITRATOR

          The NHL and NHLPA announced yesterday that they have
     named Larry Holden as their sole and permanent arbitrator
     "under the master contract," according to Nancy Marrapese-
     Burrell of the BOSTON GLOBE.  Holden, who is a graduate of
     Boston Univ. Law School and Harvard Law School, "will have
     jurisdiction in all disputes, with the exception of salary
     arbitration, which is handled by a separate panel."  Holden
     has been a mediator and an arbitrator for 29 years in both
     the public and private sectors (BOSTON GLOBE, 11/10).
