DELISTING ON NYSE LEADS TO TALK OF POSSIBLE CONVERSE SALE

Converse faces "delisting" by the NYSE since it has
fallen "below the Big Board's market value and shareholder
equity minimums," according to Greg Gatlin of the BOSTON
HERALD. Converse was worth "about" $35M as of Friday, below
the NYSE's $50M minimum, and the "danger of dropping off the
Big Board" had some observers "wondering if the company is
ripe for a sale." Gatlin: "Analysts say Converse needs
additional financing, and some insiders have begun asking
whether a buyer might step in." Freeman Securities analyst
Ben Bayse: "There's only so many times you can squeeze ...
before eventually you don't have a business." Converse Dir
of Investor Relations James Canty said that the company "is
looking at several financing alternatives, but not a sale."
Canty: "We are looking for ways to finance the business more
efficiently at lower costs" (BOSTON HERALD, 11/10).
