DOES LEHMAN ADD INSTANT CREDIBILITY TO PLAYERS ASSOCIATION?

          Tom Lehman has joined the Tour Players Association
     (TPA), giving the organization "the marquee presence it so
     desperately needs," according to Geoff Russell of GOLF
     WORLD, who reports that other "big name" golfers are
     "beginning to follow, as several top players have signed a
     petition demanding the PGA Tour submit its books for an
     independent audit."  Lehman's move means that PGA Tour
     Commissioner Tim Finchem "no longer can ignore an
     organization on the basis that it was founded primarily by
     dissidents and journeymen," and Lehman gives the TPA an
     "instant shot of credibility."  Lee Janzen is "expected to
     soon join" the TPA, which "now claims to have 75 members."
     Janzen, on the TPA and Finchem: "This isn't about getting
     rid of Tim.  Tim has done a great job" (GOLF WORLD, 10/29).
