REPORT HAS BOB GUTKOWSKI ON CUSP OF ISLES OWNERSHIP

          Within two weeks, a group headed by former MSG
     President Bob Gutkowski "should be the new owners" of the
     Islanders, according to sources of Barry Baum of the N.Y.
     POST.  Gutkowski's group of business execs, which would
     include CAK Universal Credit Chair Charles Koppelman, is in
     "extensive talks" with team co-Owners Steve Gluckstern and
     Howard Milstein as well as Nassau Coliseum Owner SMG.  A
     source said that if Gutkowski buys the team, he "would plan
     to quickly increase" the payroll from $19M to more than $30M
     through trades or free agency (N.Y. POST, 10/28).
