FRANCHISE NOTES

Eagles Owner Jeffrey Lurie is interviewed in today's
PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS. Lurie, when asked if the Phillies'
slow ballpark site selection process is "retarding the
progress of the Eagles" in seeking a new stadium: "No. If
it ever got to a point where the Phillies were not able to
finalize their deal for City Council, I would hope that it
would be separated and we'd go forward." Lurie, asked if he
ever considered selling the team: "There's no possibility of
[selling the team]. ... I totally enjoy Philadelphia. The
level of support on the street has been wonderful. But
football isn't necessarily 100 percent of one's existence.
Down the road, you never know" (PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS,
10/26)....Penguins Owner Mario Lemieux was interviewed
during last night's Falcons-Steelers "MNF" game. Lemieux,
on buying the team: "I think it was important for myself to
step up this year and to try to keep the Penguins here in
town. They've been a big part of my life and the least that
I could do was to try to put a group of investors together
and keep them here forever" ("MNF," ABC, 10/25).
