NBC TO TELEVISE ONE-HOUR HIGHLIGHT SHOW OF NYC MARATHON

          The New York City Marathon "will return to network TV
     for the first time in six years" after signing a broadcast
     agreement with NBC, according to Steve Gelsi of CBS
     MarketWatch.  NBC will feature a one hour wrap-up of the
     event at 3:00pm ET on November 7, while WNBC-N.Y. will carry
     local live coverage of the race leading up to the network
     show.  The Marathon "hasn't aired on network TV since its
     contract with" ABC Sports ended in '93.  Marathon Marketing
     Dir Scott Lange feels the race could receive up to an 11
     local rating in the N.Y. market (CBS MARKETWATCH, 10/21). 
          FILLING CATEGORIES: Race sponsors include Microsoft,
     Asics, Runner's World, Chase Manhattan Bank, Cafe de
     Colombia, The Rudin Family and the N.Y. Times.  Continental
     Airlines has "renewed its sponsorship for four years and
     moved up to the major level" and Sprint has "increased its
     involvement."  Coors is a new sponsor. Lange is "eyeing a
     sponsorship slot for an online broker, with a target of
     lining up a brand by next year" (CBS MARKETWATCH, 10/21).
