ONLINE SPORTS: NFL'S HIGH SCHOOL SITE; NIKE TO SELL TO HOME

The NFL has launched nflhs.com, a site devoted to high
school football, which includes an interactive playbook, a
Tips, Skills & Drills section, and a weekly Coaches'
Spotlight. The site also provides information on college
football eligibility requirements and football safety. The
site is funded by the NFL Youth Football Fund (NFL).
REAX TO NFL RETAILER SITE: SGB's Cory Bronson asked
sporting goods retailers about the NFL's new Web site for
retailers and licensees, NFLRETAILBUZZ.COM (See THE DAILY,
9/17). FANZZ's Scott Schuler: "I think it's going to be
great. Communication is the biggest barrier we need to
cross. We'll definitely participate and read it on a weekly
basis." FAN-A-MANIA's Barry Papenfuss: "It needs more
vendor-specific information for buyers. ... All leagues need
more commitment to supplying sub-licensee product
     information to password-protected retail buyers."
PROTEAM.COM's Dave McCarthy: "As always, the NFL is setting
the pace with a great concept and execution. I'll be there
every week" (SPORTING GOODS BUSINESS, 10/11 issue).
ONLINE NOTES: careerexperience.com has joined with
"National Sports and Recreation Jobs Weekly" to offer a
listing of sports jobs available on its site (THE DAILY).
....L.A.-based eteamz has launched its amateur sports Web
     site, located at www.eteamz.com (eteamz).
FROM NIKE TO YOU: Nike announced plans to take orders
for customized shoes on the Internet and deliver them to
homes, "bypassing retailers." Two models will be offered,
the Air Turbulence and the Air Famished, both selling for
"about" $85 (USA TODAY, 10/21). Customers can order specific
colors and features to be delivered within two weeks and
Nike will pay the air freight charges "for the time being."
The retail end to Nike.com has been used "mostly as a
showcase for products already carried at more than 10,000
retail outlets listed at the site." Nike Dir of Global
Issues Management Vada Manager: "It's a good challenge and
stimulus for the footwear industry" (AP, 10/21).
