NAMES IN THE NEWS

On "NHL Cool Shots," ESPN's Dan Moriarty interviewed
Flyers coach ROGER NEILSON, who was wearing a Fox Sports T-
shirt, about the third annual ROGER NEILSON HOCKEY CAMP held
at the Canada Center in northern Israel. There is currently
only one hockey arena in Israel, but Neilson said, "There
are plans already in place for a good rink in Tel Aviv, and
if you got a couple of arenas in Jerusalem and maybe one
down south in Beersheba and up in Haifa, then you could get
minor hockey going and you could get all the kids playing"
("NHL Cool Shots," 10/20)....The SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL's
Daniel Kaplan reports that SportsLine.com CEO MICHAEL LEVY
will be given options for "300,000 more shares of stock over
the next several years than originally planned." Levy's
additional compensation "was disclosed in an amendment to
the company's annual proxy report," which was filed last
week (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 10/18 issue). ...Jets coach
BILL PARCELLS was asked about agent JEROME STANLEY
"charging" that the JETS have been "insensitive" in their
treatment of his client, CB KEVIN WILLIAMS, who has a throat
infection that has been called life threatening. Stanley
said that "no one from the Jets has visited Williams in the
hospital and that the team has not been in touch with his
family." Parcells: "I don't really give a [expletive] about
     Jerome's claim. O.K.? I don't want to discuss Jerome"
("SportsCenter," 10/20)....In Orlando, Steve Elling reports
that FL State Univ. President SANDY D'ALEMBERTE "quashed" a
plea agreement yesterday that "would have allowed" FSU WR
PETER WARRICK to play against Clemson Sunday and "put off a
jail sentence until after the season." D'Alemberte said
that he was "not comfortable with an athlete competing with
a jail sentence looming" (ORLANDO SENTINEL, 10/21).
