POCKET PROTECTION? COWBOYS LACK OF OFFENSE COSTS FANS MONEY?

The Cowboys' "meager offensive output" in the last two
games is costing fans money, according to Richard Alm of the
DALLAS MORNING NEWS, who writes that team sponsor Bank One
"launched a new promotion this month that ties interest
rates" on CDs to the points the Cowboys score in their
latest game. In the deal, the bank "will up" its CD rates
by a hundredth of a percentage point for each point the team
scores. Bank One Marketing Manager Laurie Robichaux: "If
they have a great game and score a lot, it's a great benefit
to the customer. If they don't, it's still a fun promotion."
Though the Cowboys scored 41 and 35 points, respectively, in
their first two games, they have scored only ten points in
each of their last two games. As a result, "the promotion
isn't providing much of a kick." As of Monday, the regular
rate of one-year CDs, with a minimum deposit of $5,000, was
4.95%, "upped" to 5.05% after the team's 13-10 Monday night
loss to the Giants (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 10/20).
