GOING RETRO IN THE METRO: NFL GIANTS TO BRING BACK OLD LOOK

The "NY" logo will return to the NFL Giants helmets
next season, as the team will make its "first significant
uniform changes" since '81, according to a source of Vinny
DiTrani of the Bergen RECORD. Giants Exec VP & General
Counsel John Mara: "When we wore the 'throwback' uniforms
during the 1994 season we had a very positive response and
people were asking me why we didn't make it permanent."
DiTrani's source said that the new uniforms, "including the
helmets, will be royal blue as opposed to the current style
where the helmets are Navy blue" (Bergen RECORD, 10/16).
Giants VP/Communications Pat Hanlon: "To say that we're
going back to the old uniforms is not exactly accurate. ...
[But] many of the elements of the traditional uniforms will
be featured" (NEW YORK magazine, 10/18 issue).
