AFTER LENGTHY DISPUTE, BATTLE FOR BLUE JACKETS SETTLED

A two-year ownership dispute for control of the Blue
Jackets "appears to be over," according to Tim Doulin of the
COLUMBUS DISPATCH, who wrote that a tentative agreement has
been reached between the team's ownership group led by John
McConnell and Chiefs Owner/MLS investor Lamar Hunt. Hunt
attorney Anthony Celebrezze: "Basically, both sides are
going to go on their way." The deal "ends Hunt's quest for
a share of the team or damages for being excluded from the
ownership group." As part of the agreement, a lawsuit filed
by Hunt in N.Y. on behalf of the initial partnership
"seeking to keep the NHL from awarding the franchise" to
McConnell and Wolf Enterprises "will be dropped," as well as
one in OH. Celebrezze added that "neither side is going to
file an appeal" to the OH Supreme Court and that McConnell
and Wolf Enterprises would be responsible for their own
$920,000 in attorneys' fees (COLUMBUS DISPATCH, 10/16).
