A CAPITAL IDEA? SCP EYES SPORTING GOODS ACQUISITIONS

IMG/Chase Sports Capital Partners (SCP) is "on a buying
spree of internet sports-goods retailers," according to
Adrian Michaels of the FINANCIAL TIMES. While SCP has
"already taken" a 72% ownership in The Golf Warehouse,
Managing Partner David Moross said that it "would be buying
about 'half a dozen' prominent retailers in other sports
such as tennis, skiing and mountain sports." Moross added
that SCP was looking for "just the most prominent
retailers." Moross: "In each sport, there'll only be one or
two." Michaels writes that with each deal, the fund "will
put up some of the money and invite its investors to put up
the rest." Moross "has been hunting for ventures in London
this month and is also targeting Asia" (FINANCIAL TIMES,
10/14). SCP is a venture between IMG, Chase Manhattan and
     Whitehall Financial Group (THE DAILY).
